Kayak racing involves manoeuvring a kayak as quickly as possible over a specified distance. Most kayak races are either over open water at sea or on a whitewater river. Racing kayaks are lightweight. They generally have very narrow hulls and no rudder which means they require a lot of skill to race successfully. As kayaking has gained popularity so too has interest in kayak racing. Moving a kayak at high speed requires technique and ability as much as physical strength and endurance. .
